Barb Hansen MSW
Barb is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She works with couples, individuals and adolescents. Her areas of specialty include: couple’s/relationship counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, anxiety disorders, depression, LGBT issues, substance abuse, and sports performance mental training.
Barb's Personal Statement: You can expect me to take the time to make a thorough assessment and work with you to develop a plan to reach your goals. It is important that you feel comfortable and trust that you are being heard and understood. Hopefully, that’s what you will experience in our time together.
I tend to be solution-focused and work to emphasize and build on clients’ strengths. There are many strategies and tools that we can draw on in our work together and we will tailor those to your specific needs/situation. There is no “one size fits all.” I value the differences and diversity each person brings to the table.
I also provide sports performance mental training. My own athletic history includes college and professional participation. Whether you are a weekend warrior or a serious competitor, I can help you fine tune your mental game, including improving focus, increasing confidence and, ultimately, improving performance.
Insurance: Aetna, Cigna, BCBS (depending on the policy), Magellan, United Behavioral Health, United Healthcare and many EAP panels (employee assistance programs). I can also provide a sliding scale when there is no insurance coverage.
